Moon and Sunshine

Moon and Sunshine were abandoned outside The Mayhew at just 1 day old, alongside their mother and siblings. Being brother and sister we would like to re-home them together.

mayhew_moon.jpg

Sunshine, the little girl, enjoys attention and is more confident about being approached than her brother. Their mum was understandably protective over them when they were very young which meant they did not get used to being handled from an earlier age and as a result were quite nervous.

mayhew_sunshine.jpg

They have since gained much more confidence and will continue to do so in a home environment where they can get the attention they need. They would be suited to a sensible family environment without very young children.

Orechiette and Linguine

Orechiette and Linguine are two beautiful 4-month-old siblings who were brought to The Home as young feral kittens after being born in a garden. On arrival these three were exceptionally nervous having lacked human interaction from an early age.

mayhew_orechiette.jpg

After spending time in a foster home, they have gained confidence but will still need a patient home where they can continue to gain confidence in themselves and in their new surroundings.

mayhew_linguine_and_orechiette.jpg

These two cuties can either go to a household individually, together or with other cats but would need to go to an adult household without young children and to someone who can give them the time and patience they need.

Thursday

Meet Thursday, he is a 9 year old neutered male ginger and white cat who was brought back to us in September 2007, after a year due to his straying into the neighbours house. Extremely affectionate, friendly Thursday is a sweet natured soul.

bcdh_thursday.jpg

Thursday loves the sound of his own voice and is a very chatty lad to say the least. This docile lad would benefit from an owner with plenty of time to provide a stable home where he can get all the attention he desires. We are sure due to his lovely nature that Thursday will make a real lap cat in all senses of the word once settled in a new home.

He adores a fuss and a cuddle and is very easy-going, so laid back Thursday will make a perfect companion for someone who is at home a lot to keep him company and he will follow you everywhere! Thursday has an eye problem which causes his eye lids to become inflamed, so is on eye drops to help so is not looking his best at the moment!

This loveable lad is a happy chap with a great character and we can’t understand why there hasn’t been more interest in him. He is house-trained, not good with other felines and would suit a family household where any children are aged 5+.

Can you offer our sweet natured soul a new loving home?

    Nancy

Meet Nancy, she is a 10 year old, spayed female, domestic short-haired tabby cat who was returned in June 2007, after thirteen months in a home. Originally, she came into the cattery in 2006 after having been abandoned and was living in a garden. She was re-homed quickly but, unfortunately, was returned, as she did not get along well with the other cats in the home.

    bcdh_nancy.jpg

Nancy is a quiet, older cat who spends the majority of her time sleeping contentedly in her bed. She has been quite timid since her return to the cattery and will require a little time to settle into a new home and get used to new people. However, Nancy is friendly and enjoys a fuss once she begins to trust the person stroking her although she will let you know when she has had enough.

Nancy is a pretty, laid-back cat but because of her quiet nature in the cattery and her age, she has mostly been overlooked. This is such a shame as she has never truly settled in the cattery and would really benefit from going to a new home.

Nancy suffers from an over active hyperthyroid and will require medication for the rest of her life, however she will go out on assisted adoption which means that the Home will pay for any treatment with regards to her current condition. As Nancy is an independent, quiet cat she will need to be re-homed in a settled, stable home with older children and no other cats. Nancy is fully litter-trained and uses her indoor tray mostly and would perhaps be suitable as an indoor cat?

Can you give our sweet older lass a new loving home where she can settle and enjoy life again?

    Albert

Meet Albert, he is a 10 year old black and white neutered male short-haired cat that was brought back to us in July 2007, after only two and a half years, as his owner didn’t have enough time for him. Albert is a fantastic cat, a real super-star! He is a very loving and loyal friend that adores his cuddles and enjoys all the attention he can get.

    bcdh_albert.jpg

Albert is very laid back, waiting patiently at the front of his pod for attention, or his other favourite thing - food! Sweet natured and affectionate Albert unfortunately is showing signs of Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) where sadly there is no cure as yet! Because, of this he must be homed as the only cat in a 1st or 2nd floor flat, where he has no contact with other cats.

Albert is a placid, relaxed cat that doesn’t have a bad bone in his body. Although, any potential new owners must be aware that due to his sometimes ravenous appetite as he doesn’t absorb his food, he can be a little protective over food or his actual food bowl! But this is just one of many of Albert’s endearing qualities.

Albert is clean in the cattery is good with children aged 10+ that are sensible but needs a new indoor home without other cats. Please do not over-look Albert or become dissuaded by his medical history as we know first hand that he will make the ‘purrfect’ little companion and is desperately seeking caring new owners that can offer him a break for what time he has left. He will go out on assisted adoption, which means that the Home will pay for any vet bills with regards to his current condition.

Can you offer our dear old boy a loving twilight home where he can spend the rest his days?

    Holly and Hedgehog

Meet Holly (ginger) and Hedgehog (tortoiseshell), they are semi-longhaired speyed female cats that have been with us since August 2007, after their owners moved abroad abandoning them to fend for themselves. Holly and Hedgehog are very timid cats that spend most of their time hiding where they feel most secure.

    bcdh_hegehog.jpg

When approached they may sometimes hiss out of fear due to lack of socialisation in the critical early years of their development. As a result of their timidity, they have been overlooked but with plenty of time, patience and understanding, any new owner will gain their trust, encourage sociability and provide the stable loving home where they can increase their confidence and truly feel at ease.

    bcdh_holly.jpg

Holly and Hedgehog are litter trained but are stressed in the cattery environment and would benefit from an experienced cat owner who is used to timid cats and within a quiet household where any children are aged 16+. They are seeking a new loving home together, and are quite over-weight so have been but on a diet to regain their figures.

As semi-longhaired cats they will need regular grooming, Holly doesn’t seem to object as much as her feline friend Hedgehog, but perseverance is required. Can you offer pretty Holly and Hedgehog a new and loving home where they can feel at ease together?

    Kitty

Meet Kitty, she is an 8 year old shorthaired tortoiseshell and white speyed female cat that was brought back to us in October 2007, after only a month as she was acting unpredictable – originally arriving in early August. Kitty originally was a very friendly cat that was always seeking attention and loved to be made a fuss of.

    bcdh_kitty.jpg

However, after a month in her last home she has returned a different cat, that can be nice natured and affectionate when she wants to be, but at the same time can be unpredictable and grumpy. We are not sure what has happened to her to make her change so dramatically but we are sure in the right home with the right people she will revert to her former self.

Wanting a fuss Kitty but not always liking it she still craves attention and needs lots of TLC, however, I don’t think it will take her too long to come round. She has a loveable, yet cheeky character but she is very stressed in the cattery and is not eating very well, but we know this will change once out in a new home. Loving to play with her toys, she is a lively inquisitive lass that is very chatty.

She would love a new home where experienced cat owners are at home quite a lot as this would help her build up her confidence. She is litter trained; not good with her feline cousins here but is seeking a new family home with sensible children aged 14+ as Kitty doesn’t care too much for younger children!

Can you give our cheeky lass a new place to call hers after a disturbing month?

    Billy

Meet Billy; he is a 13 year old neutered male black and white short-haired cat that has been with us since mid August 2007, after his owner became disabled and was unable to look after him. Billy had been in the same household since a kitten along with his brother who sadly has passed away due to kidney failure.

    bcdh_billy.jpg

This is a sad situation for an older cat to find himself in not only has he lost his dear human friend but he has also lost his constant feline companion. It took him a while to adjust to cattery life because of this hard transition; we feel he hasn’t been able to show his true colours.

Sweet natured, affectionate Billy loves being stroked and would like nothing more than a warm lap to curl up on. He is a friendly lad that is desperate for affection, is easy going and is looking for a loving home, where he can get all the kind of care and TLC he deserves in his senior years.

Even though he is an older cat he still is quite lively and inquisitive for his age and gets quite excited when made a fuss of. A real darling of a cat, Billy is litter trained, good with some other felines and would be fine in a family where any children are aged 5+. Because he is so loveable he would adore it if his potential new family where at home quite a lot as he loves human company.

Can you offer our sweet Billy a home he can live out his twilight years?

    Chastity

Meet Chastity, she is a 14 year old domestic short-haired black and white female cat that was brought to us in July 2007, after being found as a stray. She had been wandering around for the past week and arrived very unhappy and thin.

    bcdh_chastity.jpg

It always seems particularly sad when we have older cats brought in as strays. You wonder how long it has been since they have been in the comfort of a loving home and had a warm lap to curl up on. With Chastity, you think she must have had a loving history as she is such a sweet, good-natured cat, who just loves a cuddle and lots of affection.

She has been diagnosed as suffering from hypo-thyroidism and has an eye condition and is on medication to help but neither seems to affect her lovely, sweet temperament. She loves a bit of a fuss, a lap to curl up on and as she is in her twilight years is looking for a caring home where she can keep you company and is able to snooze the afternoons away.

She is a very happy little cat that is easy going and after all she has been through just needs lots of TLC. She has a cheeky character and is desperate for a loving home environment to show it off! Chastity is litter trained, possibly good with other cats and would be fine in a family where children are sensible aged 8+ or older.

She is very under-weight and is always hungry, and we feel she has had a tough time and wasn’t used to eating, but is now a very vocal cat as if to say “where’s my food”! Can you give our older lass the love and devotion she deserves after all she has been through at her time of life?

    Bonnie

Meet Bonnie, she is a 2 year old short-haired tabby speyed female cat that was brought to us in early July 2007, after been found living rough in a greenhouse with her four kittens. Bonnie is a rather shy and timid cat that is seeking patient owners who have the time and plenty of love and TLC to help bring her round.

    bcdh_bonnie.jpg

She doesn’t show himself off well in the cattery as she is very stressed here and tends to just run and hide. Over the past two months she has started to come to the glass of her pod at meal times and has started to trust her animal carers.

Bonnie was a lovely mum to her kittens and like them she is now seeking a new loving home where she can settle and have a happy ending. She hasn’t mixed with other cats here at the cattery, because she had only just been separated from her kittens and it was early days. Bonnie is litter trained, and is looking for a quiet new family home where any children are over 16 years old.

Can you give our young lass a new place to call home after a bad start in life?
