Smokey

Smokey is a 3 year old female with a beautiful smokey grey coat and emerald eyes. She came to the Mayhew because unfortunately, her owner was made homeless. Smokey is very wary of people and as a result can show signs of aggression.mayhew_smokey.jpg

She can be unpredictable and although she does seem curious around humans, this can sometimes turn into fear and she may lash out. She has however, shown great improvement since she’s been with us and can be very affectionate on her own terms. Smokey is going to need a calm environment and a very patient owner who is willing to work with her and help her learn to trust people.

Aimee

Beautiful and delicate, little Aimee is a 14 year old blue point Balinese. Aimee is now sadly blind in one eye and has little sight in her other eye. Aimee needs a caring mature owner to help her with this new disability. She is very sweet and gentle and a little shy when you first approach, which is undoubtedly due to her lack of sight. Once she has familiarised herself with you she is very affectionate and vocal.

mayhew_aimee.jpg

In her previous home Aimee lived with other cats, although Aimee was known to be rather bossy towards the other cats. Since becoming blind and, therefore, being more vulnerable and cautious, we feel Aimee would be better going to a single-cat household. Aimee would need to go to a new home where someone will be around for the majority of the day to keep her company.

Busea

Busea is a beautiful dark tabby female who came to the Home, along with her kittens, as her previous owner was unable to cope. Busea loves chasing toys but she is not really a lap cat or a cat that demands much attention. She is independent and likes the occasional stroke on her head but only on her own terms.

mayhew_busea.JPG

Busea loved to be out and about in her previous home and will, therefore, need to go to a home where she has constant access to the outdoors where she can come and go as she pleases. Busea wouldn’t be suitable in a family environment but would be best suited to someone who can appreciate and respect her independence.

Busea is becoming more and more affectionate and demanding of attention, although she can be tempremental at times, she is proving to be a very loving cat. Busea has shown a great disliking towards other cats therefore would need to go to a home without any existing cats and where there are few/no neighbouring cats.

Bella

Bella is a very shy 2 1/2 year old calico female, who was sadly returned to The Mayhew after the owner was unable to cope. Bella was adopted as a young feral kitten and although she has never shown signs of aggression she is still very nervous of human contact and will therefore need a patient individual who can give her the time and patience she needs.

mayhew_bella.jpg

When she is startled or something in particular has scared her she has a habit of toileting, so her new owners will need to be prepared to work through this issue with her. Bella has lived with other cats in the past and often relied on them for confidence. Therefore, ideally, she will go to a new home with existing cats.
