Butch

Butch is a 7 year old grey tabby neutered male stray cat was brought into the Bath Cat s & Dogs Home in April 2007. As he was a tomcat he was routinely blood tested for FIV and FeLV, but unfortunately for him he was tested positive to FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus).

bathcd_butch.jpg

Butch has a super character but has clearly had very little human handling and therefore doesn’t know how to accept such affection but wants to be friendly; it was decided to castrate him and try and find a special person to adopt him rather than be forced to euthanase him.

As he has FIV he will need to be rehomed as an indoor flat cat where there are no other cats and steps must be taken to ensure that the cat does not escape and spread the virus to neighbourhood cats and also to reduce his exposure to other infections. He is looking for a nice spacious home where his new owners will give him lots of love. He must be homed as the only cat or perhaps with another FIV positive cat and where any children are aged 16+.

Apart from FIV he appears to be fit and healthy and cats with just this virus have a significant life expectancy. A lot of studies are still being carried out about FIV and FeLV but the fate of infected cats are a whole lot better these days than they used to be.

If you are interested please do ask about him as he is a smashing cat with bags of character. The Home has decided to try and help cats with FIV/FeLV by demonstrating to the general public with care and caution that in the right environment these cats can live out long and happy lives, to that extent we are going to try and rehome one cat at a time that has this virus.

Can you give our striking lad an indoor home where he can spend the rest of life?

Tess

Meet Tess; she is a 1 1/2 year old domestic short-haired black with a white flash speyed female cat that was brought to the Bath Cats & Dogs Home in February 2006, as her owner couldn’t cope.

bathcdh_tess.jpg

Tess is a friendly cat that possibly didn’t get very much handling when young, and sometimes can be quite naughty even a little grumpy when not feeling her best. He animal carer says she has a bit of the Jeckyll and Hyde character in her however, most of the time she is a sweet little cat – rather independent that acts as if she wants attention but doesn’t like being handled.

She likes her own space and is looking for someone who will accept her for who she is. She struts around the cattery as if she owns it and as she is an independent little lass she has been given the run of the cattery and can often be seen longingly looking out of the run as if to say; this is what I am missing!

She is good with other felines but seeking an experienced owner and where any children are aged 15+. If you are interested in Tess please ask as she is in Green cattery and this is not on general public viewing. Can you can you offer Tess a new home? Can you give this rather independent youngster a new place to have fun?

Bryony

Meet Bryony; she is a beautiful tortoiseshell and white, 10 year old spayed female cat that has been with us since July 2007, when she was brought in as a stray. Sweet natured Bryony is a friendly lass that enjoys plenty of fuss and attention.

bathcdh_bryony.jpg

As an older cat, she is fairly quiet and laidback; mostly enjoying curling up in her pod and sleeping the day away. Sadly, Bryony hasn’t had any interested in her with regards to potential owners here in the cattery, which is a real shame, as she would make a lovely addition to any household, so next time you visit the cattery don’t walk pass her!

Unfortunately, she suffers from arthritis so would really benefit from a calm, quiet home environment without other cats and with a family where any children are aged 8+. Bryony is clean and litter-trained proving herself to be a sweet and docile feline.

Once given the chance Bryony will make a wonderful, loyal companion and people should not be put off by her age. Please don’t overlook this lovely, older cat: she deserves a good home too!

15Aug2007 | Bath Cats and Dogs Home | WANT TO ADOPT THIS CAT?

Tigger

Meet Tigger; he is a 5 year old, neutered male cat and a fine example of a ginger tabby. This poor boy hasn’t had the best of luck in life and seems to have been passed from home to home before arriving here in the cattery in July 2007.

bathcdh_tigger.jpg

Tigger was adopted from the Cats Protection League two years ago; unfortunately, he didn’t get on with the other cat in the household and was passed onto another home. Although he was loved dearly in this household, his feisty nature was a little too much for the younger children who lived there and so he was brought into us.

Very loving and affectionate at times Tigger will come forward for a fuss; however he is a little unpredictable in his behaviour and will let you know when he has had enough and doesn’t want further attention. He obviously has had little or no handling in his early days and is a little cautious about being handled or touched around his back area.

Unfortunately, this is due to the fact that he was probably ill-treated in his early life and feels threatened by too much attention. He spends most of the time inside his pod, hiding under his blanket but this is probably due to the fact that he is unsettled here in the cattery, finding the noises and smells of the environment stressful, so if you cannot see Tigger please ask the animal carer on duty to show you Tigger and his blanket!

Although Tigger can be unpredictable at times, it is clearly due to the anxiety that he feels from his previous treatment but with a patient and understanding owner, we really believe that he will gain confidence and improve. Tigger is fully litter-trained; and given the opportunity of a loving, stable home without other cats or dogs and where children are aged 16+, there is no reason why Tigger won’t become a friendly and loyal companion to anyone willing to give this beautiful cat a second chance.  Can you offer Tigger a new loving home where he can get all the love and TLC he deserves?

Oliver

Meet Oliver; he is a thirteen-year-old (plus) domestic short-haired black (going brown) neutered male cat that was brought to us as a stray in the middle of July 2007.  It always seems particularly sad when we have older cats brought in as strays. You wonder how long it has been since they have been in the comfort of a loving home and had a warm lap to curl up on.

bathcdh_oliver.jpg

With Oliver, you think he must have had a loving history as he is such a sweet, good-natured cat, who just loves a cuddle and lots of affection.

It appears that he has an abdominal mass but this doesn’t seem to affect his lovely, sweet temperament and our veterinary team have planned an exploratory examination however, obviously the outcome is questionable. Because of this and his age, he could either be an indoor cat or have access to a secure garden. We are seeking a loving new home where he can get lots of TLC as he craves attention for whatever time he might have left.

Oliver will go out on assisted adoption which means that the Home will pay for his veterinary bills with regards to his current condition. He loves a bit of a fuss, a lap to curl up on and as he is in his twilight years is looking for a caring home where he can keep you company and able to snooze the afternoons away – he just likes to sleep and eat and not much in-between! Oliver is house-trained, gets on well with other cats, and would be fine in a family where children are sensible aged 8+.

If you are interested in offering Oliver a new home please ask in reception as he is in the isolation cattery and this is not on general public viewing. Can you give our old boy the love and devotion he deserves at his age?

Babs

Meet Babs; she is a beautiful, domestic short-haired black, 1 year old, spayed female cat who arrived at the Home as a stray at the beginning of July 2007.  Friendly and confident, Babs settled into the cattery immediately. Being only young, she is quite energetic and will fit into a young, active home environment where she will get played with lots.

bathcdh_babs.jpg

Although brought in as a stray, Babs is a wonderful, friendly cat who loves attention and affection: rushing to the front of her pod if people are about! She is quite vocal and will demand loudly for a fuss when she wants it!

Babs is such a sweetie, it is quite surprising that she hasn’t had much interest at all whilst in the cattery. She is fully litter-trained and will make an excellent family pet with children of all ages, although she doesn’t seem so keen on fellow felines.

Can you offer our sweet natured youngster a new loving home after being a stray?

15Aug2007 | Bath Cats and Dogs Home | WANT TO ADOPT THIS CAT?

Tibby

Meet Tibby; she is a 12 year old speyed female domestic short-haired tabby cat that arrived at the Home mid June 2007, as a stray. It always seems particularly sad when we have older cats brought in as strays.

bathcdh_tibby.jpg

You wonder how long it has been since they have been in the comfort of a loving home and had a warm lap to curl up on. With Tibby, you think she must have had a loving history, as she is such a happy, nice-natured cat, who just loves a cuddle.

Tibby is a darling of a cat! Sweet, laid-back and affectionate, this mature feline settled into the cattery quickly, enjoying nothing more than stretching out and snoozing in her pod. After arriving at the home as a stray, this pretty lass deserves nothing more than whiling away her later life in the lap of luxury!

Tibby is a quiet, relaxed older cat and will probably be suited to a quiet and calm home environment where she can be made a fuss of and be truly spoilt. Tibby enjoys the finer side of life, sleeping, eating and lots of affection; because of this she would probably be better suited to a household where children are 8+.

She is house-trained; good with other cats and will make someone a lovely affectionate pet. Can you offer dear Tibby a new home where she can enjoy her twilight years?

15Aug2007 | Bath Cats and Dogs Home | WANT TO ADOPT THIS CAT?

Ella

Meet Ella; she is an 11 year old semi-longhaired grey and white speyed female cat that was brought in in June 2007, as a stray. We always feel particularly sorry for elderly cats that fine themselves at the cattery in the latter part of their life when all they really want is a nice loving home to snooze the afternoons away.

bathcdh_ella.jpg

Very friendly and affectionate Ella loves to be made a fuss of and to find a nice lap to snuggle up on. She suffers from hyperthyroidism and is on medication to help, so will go out on assisted adoption which means the Home will pay for any treatment with regards to her current condition.

She is a sweet older lass that is seeking a nice quiet home to spend her twilight years. Happy, nice natured Ella has an out-going nature, is inquisitive and has a really cheeky character. Litter trained, but not good with other cats she is seeking a family home where any children are aged 10+ providing they are sensible. Can you give our lovely old lass a place to spend her twilight years?

15Aug2007 | Bath Cats and Dogs Home | WANT TO ADOPT THIS CAT?

Percy and Prudence

Meet Percy (black and white male) and Prudence (tortoiseshell and white female); they are 13 year old domestic short-haired cats that arrived at the Home back in June 2007, because, tragically, their owner had passed away.

bathcdh_percy.jpg

This delightful old couple are a sweet, mature pair who will need a nice, quiet home to while away their days in. Percy is a neutered male cat who is very friendly and affectionate, often found at the front of his pod demanding attention vocally! Although he is a more mature feline, he is still fairly active for his age and enjoys nothing more than playing in his run. He likes to be fussed but has his grumpy moments when he prefers to be left alone to catnap!

bathcdh_prudence.jpg

Unlike Percy, Prudence, a spayed female lacks confidence and is quite a shy little lady. Reflecting her name, Prudence is a little cautious and will sometimes shy away and hide when approached; however, she is not at all aggressive rather submissively cowering if stroked. It is a shame that Prudence is such a timid little cat because with a little time and patience, we are sure she will prove herself to be a lovely, sweet and friendly little cat.

Because of their age and because of Prudence’s shyness, we would suggest that this pair are re-homed in a nice quiet home where children are 10+ where they can find peace and stability in their latter years. This lovely, friendly pair is frequently overlooked because of their age, which is a great shame because they are two wonderful cats and would make a welcome addition to any home lucky enough to adopt them. Can you offer a dear sweet pair a new loving home where they can spend their twilight years?

15Aug2007 | Bath Cats and Dogs Home | WANT TO ADOPT THIS CAT?

Oli

Meet Oli; he is a 10 year old domestic short-haired black and white neutered male cat that was brought to us in early June 2007 as his owners where moving and unable to take them with him. We always find it particularly sad when we have older cats brought in, as they should be enjoying their twilight years in a loving home instead of trying to find a new home.

bathcdh_oli.jpg

Oli is a lovely, friendly, vocal cat that will seek attention and love every second of it! He has signs of early renal failure, which some older cats are prone to, however this doesn’t seem to affect his lovely nature. He will go out on assisted adoption which means that the Home will pay for any treatment with regards to his current condition.

He loves a fuss and a cuddle and lap to curl up on where he can keep you company and snooze the afternoons away; or just sunbathe on sunny days. Sweet Oli is seeking a nice quiet calm household where he can get lots of TLC.

Very laid back, Oli will suit most family environments and will make a fantastic companion. He has not mixed with other cats here at the cattery, but would be fine in a family where children are sensible aged 12+ or older. Can you give our older lad a new loving home that he deserves?
