Minxy
Minxy is a black and white male aged 1-2 years old. He is a funny character, both amusing and slightly strange. We rehomed him in early September, but he was brought back after a couple of weeks because he kept going for his new person’s legs.

We were aware that he had done that in his previous home where he had been kept as an indoor cat and became bored and mischievous, but his new owner felt that she could not cope with his behaviour.
We put him in a room to see what he would do, and sure enough, several people had their legs lightly mangled as they were trying to leave the room. He loves people really and he just doesn’t want them to leave! We then put him up in the Cattery and started to socialise him with two young ginger toms that lived next door to him and Minxy was enthralled by them; he would follow them round chirruping and cooing it almost seemed as though he had never met another cat before. He now loves ginger cats the best and if there are none in the Home, he makes do with the ones that have a bit of ginger in them!
Minxy would greatly benefit from living with a calm, chilled, affable, preferably ginger cat in an experienced, adult household with people who have dealt with this kind of problem in the past. Or he could live with someone who has a penchant for wearing their riding boots or wellies indoors.
Once settled, he should be introduced to the garden; he loves his outside space here and immediately learned how to use his cat flap. He is a playful young chap who really does enjoy interacting with his people he just needs to be taught how to do it nicely.

Poor Apollo, Roxy and Bijou (male and female - approximately 10 years old) who are ginger, black and white and tabby and white were brought to Battersea as their owner had died so we sadly do not have much information about this gorgeous trio. We can’t understand why these lovely cats are still here, they may be older but still have so much to offer and at their time of life they really deserve to be in a home receiving plenty of T.L.C.

When they arrived at Battersea all three cats were confused and frightened, they had obviously gone through a stressful time and took a while to settle in this environment, new owners will need to be prepared for them to take time to settle and build a bond at first. Once settled all three cats are very friendly and loving, they will make affectioanate lapcats.
Ideally they need a quiet home without children or other pets so they can spend the rest of their days in peace. We do not know if they have used a catflap in the past but feel they do need access to a garden so they can have a little potter around. Bijou only has 3 legs but does get around very well, she will need accompanied visits to the garden so owners must be prepared to have a litter tray down all the time.
All three cats are neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped and will leave Battersea with six weeks free insurance.

Gizmo is a black and white female aged between 8-9 years old. We seem to have been seeing quite a few stout parties here in Battersea recently, and the latest supersized model is Gizmo.

Weighing in at 8.4 kilos, she is about twice the size that she should be. Gizmo came in because she was fighting with the other cat in her previous home, and she does sometimes have her little hissy fits when she sees all the other cats around her in the Cattery.
For the most part, she generous with her affections and likes being stroked and groomed just about as much as she likes chicken. Gizmo could live with teenage children and needs a home with some stairs and also a garden. Her new people must be committed to continuing with her weight loss programme and must be strong-minded enough not to give in to her pleading looks. Keep her out of the way at meal times.

Plumptious Yo Yo is a black and white female aged between 3-5 years old, she was found cowering in the bushes in someone’s garden. Judging by her plentiful padding, she had not been a stray for long, but the experience had clearly unnerved her and she remains somewhat wary and distrustful.

Thanks to the patience and dedication of our volunteer cat socialisers, she has greatly improved and she certainly wants to be friendly, but what she needs now is a calm, patient, adult home where she can learn to relax and enjoy being a pet.
It will come as no surprise to learn that she loves her food and this will be useful for bonding with her during the settling in period in her new home, although she must not be allowed to get any bigger. Her new people should encourage her to play and she should have access to a garden once settled.

Myrtle is a black female aged 9 years old, she came in to Battersea because she started feeling insecure in her last home when she was left on her own for long periods. This chatty cat is very people-orientated and is happiest when she has an attentive audience of one to listen to her tall tails whilst buffing up her silky- satiny coat.

Myrtle needs a mature home, preferably with a single, retired person who likes to spend a lot of time at home. She should have access to a garden, secure roof terrace or balcony once she has settled in.

Pasha is a 5-7 year old black and white female who came from a home where she lived with another cat and two dogs and has been with us since May because of her ongoing problems with her eyes.

One of our staff members fostered her for a month to see how she would do in a home environment and reports that Pasha was a pleasure to look after. She settled in straight away and loved to snuggle up for cuddles and attention and will head butt or stretch out an appealing paw if you stop.
Pasha is a calm and gentle girl who needs to live in a calm and gentle home. She can live with children over ten, but cannot live with another cat or dog. She should have access to a garden once settled.
If you think that you could offer Pasha a home, please come in to Battersea to register or leave a message for Ros on 020 7627 9234 or email: r.davies@dogshome.org.

Pepsi is a 4 year old black and white female who is a very sweet natured chatty little girl, who knows what she likes, she can be shy and timid so will need places to hide as she does not like strangers or children. She was a Gift to the Home and is now ready to find her next and hopefully last home.

She came to us through no fault of her own due to an allergy in the family. Pepsi has found cattery life stressful due to the fact that she hates other cats, so when she first came to us and even sometimes now if she can smell a cat on you she will hiss and walk away.
It has taken some time for her to bond, so will need plenty of time to build a bond with her next owner, and this should be done on her terms and not rushed at all.
Pepsi is also fed only on one particular type as she can be sensitive to other foods, this again should be continued as she enjoys it and has the sofest coat so seems to agree with her.
In short happiness for pepsi is a nice warm bed, a bit of string to play with, her scratching post, and of course some company, even just talking to her will get you a response.
Pepsi is looking for a quiet Household, becomes spooked easily by loud noises, access to a garden, enjoyed going out in her last home, she could be left for a working day, older children only and her new owner to continue feeding her on a particular brand of food.
If you think you could offer Pepsi a new home please contact Battersea Cats and Dogs Home Brands Hatch on 01474 874994.

Henry is a 6 year old black and white male who, bless him, has formed a deep attachment to his scratching post and loves to spend most of his time in his yard as close to it as possible. It remains to be seen if the cold weather drives a wedge between them if he transfers his affections to his heated shelf and blankets.

Perhaps Henry feels protected by his totem pole, as he has been quite accident prone in the past - unfortunate encounters with cars, cats and kids have instilled in him a certain wariness and sense of self preservation.
Henry needs experienced, adult owners who will understand that this boy needs his space and does not like to be overly fussed.
He loves playing with his fish-on- a-stick if the scratching post can play too and is happy for a bit of a stroke and a chat as long as you don’t want to pick him up and squeeze him.
This funny little character would be more than happy to be left to his own devices while you are out at work providing he has got cat flap access to a garden and that there are no big bully cats next door as he is rubbish at fighting and always loses.
If you think that you can give Henry a permanent home, please come in to Battersea to register or leave a message for Ros on 020 7627 9234 or email: r.davies@dogshome.org.

Nina is a 7-10 year old white female cat who has been with us for over two months now having been rehomed in the middle of August, but unfortunately things did not work out in her new home and she was most displeased to find herself back amongst us again. She had long been known as Whitney, but our socialisers noticed that she became irritated when addressed by that name, so after a long and painstaking process of trial and error we have managed to work out that her real name is Nina Pretty Ballerina.

Our pearly princess would prefer to live in a subservient adult household (with a nice garden, naturally) where, like royalty, she should only be approached or spoken to if she comes over to you. In time, this little prickly pear will mellow and soften; she even sits nicely on your lap when she trusts you, but it must be emphasized that she does not like to be rushed into anything everything is always on her terms. Once you have been accepted into her inner circle, you may even have the rare privilege of seeing her dance
If you would like a cat about the house, but do not necessarily desire a cuddly lap cat, then Nina could be the one for you. Please come in to Battersea to register or leave a message for Ros on 020 7627 9234 or email us.

Boncuk is an 8 month old white female, who despite her angelic looks, Boncuk has a feisty personality and also a timid side, the combination of which can sometimes result in the odd feline tantrum. She is not very settled here and gets anxious when she is having a run out on the Cattery floor, probably unnerved by the presence of all the other cats.

This youngster will need a special home with experienced, adult owners, wise in the ways of cats, who will encourage her playful and loving side whilst being aware that she is quite a little madam. She cannot live with children and should have access to a garden once settled.
If you think that you can cope with a Boncuk in your life, please come in to Battersea to register or leave a message for Ros on 020 7627 9234 or email: r.davies@dogshome.org.
